Hey there, I'm Alex. I'm a designer in southeast Michigan that enjoys programming, screen printing, and riding my bike. I currently work as the Senior Web Designer for the University of Michigan College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

My favorite fortune cooke fortune ever says "There is no secret to success except hard work."

I keep it in my wallet.

Having recently had to buy new outrageously expensive blades for my Gillette Fusion Vibrating Quadruple Bypass Extreme Sport razor (or whatever it’s called), I went back to thinking I really should get myself a proper old-school safety razor instead, the kind your grandfather had all his life. They use the traditional double-edged, stainless steel razorblades, and you can buy enough of them to last you a decade for less than the cost of four new razorblades for the latest Gillette gimmick (they don’t even make safety razors anymore).Sure, the handle costs a little bit more, but if you take care of it it can outlast you, which even makes it an environmentally-friendly choice. The all-steel razorblades are certainly far more recyclable too compared to the newer types.

Can’t go wrong with a nice safety razor.  It really does give a nice shave and razor burn isn’t so much a problem anymore.  I found a pretty old safety razor in my grandpa’s effects, never used and still in it’s original packaging.  I thought about using that one but I instead went with a new razor from a company called Goodfella out of New Zealand.  They’re make pretty solid shavers; nice, somewhat-modern styling on a solid piece of hardware.

“Dear Meaghan, Please, for me, for everyone that has become associated with Tumblr… Please discourage people from having Tumblr Meetups at Chili’s. If you don’t want to get into a confrontation, you can give me the email of whomever is organizing the San Jose Tumblr Meetup, and I will personally try to talk them out of it. It’s bad enough that the Ann Arbor Tumblr Meetup is happening at a Starbucks, but Chili’s, really? I know there has to be a better place in San Jose. My friend and I were just joking about doing a photo shoot of me alone at Chili’s with an Awesome Blossom, and labeling it a Friendster Meetup. I really do like what is going on with Tumblr. Don’t let it all come tumbling down. Chuck McCarthy”

History Of Chuck: MEAGHAN PLEASE! NO CHILI’S

hahahahhahahahahhaa.

I’m a little surprised to see an Ann Arbor Tumblr meetup.  But fuck, Starbucks!  What the hell organizer.  So many better places than Starbucks in this town!

Got damn.

EDIT:  Another WTF?  Friday @ 1PM.  What about folks that work 9-5?  Fail on so many levels.

Last and most interesting Czech stamp of the series, 1963.  The illustration of the spacecraft is a bit embellished from the actual design of the Vostok 5.  Still though, it’s a great illustration.
This stamp must have been issued some time post-June as the correct dates for the mission are in the illustration.  The mission was originally planned to encompass 8 days but was forced to end early when the waste disposal system stopped working.  Regardless, the record for longest solo spaceflight was set on this mission and still stands.

1964 Czech stamp.  Features a really sweet engraving of a locomotive from a company called ČKD which was a huge engineering company in Czechoslovakia, which was then nationalized after WWII.  Great logo.
